Geography 4 was the first piece completed after returning from a year in SE Asia. Like most of my work it has a formal and essentialist mode in the gallery, but the web site anchors the work much more specifically in a cultural context – or in this case puts the work into a collision of cultural contexts. The web site takes a sideways look into one way Americans contextualize the ‘exotic’ in commercial culture.
