The Society for Neo-Regionlist Art Manifesto
An Acre of Art is the first exhibition to be officially endorsed by teh Society for Neo-Regionalist Art. SNRA is an international volunteer organization dedicated to the advancement of contemporary art that is grounded in the culture and/or ecology of the region in which it is produced. SNRA is founded on the following two theories.
Theory # 1: Contemporary information technologies have eliminated the traditional geographic barrier to the open exchange of contemporary critical ideas. While in the past the absence of an ongoing sophisticated critical dialogued has been a handicap to the production of informed art in regions outside major international art centers. Readily accessible 2 way AV communication has removed this barrier and made it possible for artists throughout the world to be informed and engaged producers of art in all media.
Theory #2: This current revolution in technology does not neutralize the fact that there are important cultural and ecological truths for artists to examine in "the local". Informed artistic inquiry of geographical specificity can and does lead to consequential art that addresses universal themes.
SNRA is committed to supporting artists whose work is critically informed and locally engaged. We are accepting applications for membership. To become a member of SNRA simply tell somebody nearby and somebody else far away that you are a member of SNRA. Please inform us of your membership by email at ro_lawrence@yahoo.com
Carry on.
